How Long will it take?
Planning the house clearance will help everything go smoothly. As a good rule of thumb, allow half a day per room (a small garden being equivalent to one room) if there are two people working on the project.
Decide what to keep and what to throw away
Next, go through everything and decide what to keep, what to sell or give away, and what to throw away. Coloured stickers can help here: red to ‘keep’, orange to ‘sell/donate’, and green to ‘bin’. Once you have labelled everything, group items with the same coloured stickers together.
Estimate how much waste you have
How many standard skips do you think your stuff would fill? Walk around each room and note how many skips the stickered items would fill.
Arrange for the house to be cleared
You should now have estimates of how many (a) Things to keep, (b) Things to donate or sell and (c) Things to throw away. Now you know how big a skip you will need.

Now it is time to call Martlands and hire a skip. The skip will be dropped off outside the premises for you to fill it. Skips are hired out at a flat rate and if you need to put it on a public road you will also require a skip permit (and maybe a parking suspension) from the local council.
