As the country has spent many of the recent months in lockdown, creative people have really shined through. DIY projects of all types have taken off, with studies saying that over 85% of UK adults have tried their hand at a bit of lockdown DIY.
Lockdown DIY Projects
Here are some lockdown DIY projects that caught our eye.
Back Garden Bar
One Manchester couple decided to build their own pub. With a £500 budget, they purchased all the materials from Facebook Marketplace and made the pub from old beer pumps and mats from friends.
Pallet Garden Furniture
By reusing old wooden pallets you can reduce waste and make a beautiful piece of garden furniture. Wooden pallets are commonly found in skips, so it’s great to use them productively.
Steam Train BBQ
A welder with a love for DIY has created his own garden steam train by using scrap metal. He used the pipe of the train to filter the smoke, and the metal holds heat in. The BBQ doubles up as a rotisserie.
Despite gyms being closed during the lockdown, exercise levels actually increased. One couple used left-over materials to make the ultimate home gym.
Old car tyres cannot go into skips, so why not find a use for them? A South Yorkshire lady created garden furniture from old tyres and string.
The Stumble Inn
A man in Oswestry transformed a disused lambing shed into a back-garden pub – and it is now the perfect location for a pint of Black Sheep ale.
The Drunken Crab
Perhaps the most outstanding DIY effort, The Drunken Crab has an exterior like a typical ‘local’, and the inside of the pub is identical to a UK boozer too!.
