What Should You Do With Your Waste? There are so many different recycling bins to choose from, and so many different ways to recycle waste, the whole thing can sometimes become rather overwhelming for beginners! Luckily, help is at hand: Our team at Martlands Waste Management can help you to dispose of all of your waste in the right way. Here is our guide to help you to understand where your waste should be disposed of, and whether or not it can be recycled.
What Should You Do With Your Waste?
Most of your waste in these categories can go straight into your recycling bin – as long as it is not contaminated with grease or leftover food:
- Tin cans
- Paper and cardboard
Some waste cannot go into your recycling bin – these are the most common contaminants that will be rejected by recyclers:
- Bin bags and plastic bags – although they are made from plastic, they cannot be recycled
- Garden and food waste – a special type of bin is needed to recycle garden waste or food
- Hard plastic – hard plastic, such as that used in toys, cannot be recycled current and so it should not be disposed of in your recycling bin
- Clothes – unfortunately, textiles such as clothes cannot be recycled at present
What do I do with non-recyclable waste?
The following need to be taken to your local recycling centre, as they are problematic – or even hazardous
- Rubble and Hardcore
- Oil and petrol
If you have waste in these categories, consider donating them to charity before taking them to the recycling centre or tip – some charities will even collect large and bulky items directly from you:
