What size of skip you need depends on the task you have to complete. Here is a guide to some of the tasks suitable for our most popular skips.
What Size Of Skip?
When it comes to waste management, we always recommend getting a slightly bigger skip than you think you need – you always end up with more waste!
Jobs Suitable for a 4 Tonne Skip
With enough space for the waste generated from a kitchen or bathroom refit or a garden clearance, a smaller 4-tonne midi skip is the ideal choice for those domestic jobs that need a convenient and affordable onsite waste solution.
Jobs Suitable for an 8 Tonne Skip
The 8 Tonne skip is perfect for bulky waste, as well as relatively heavy waste such as rubble, soil and concrete. An 8-tonne skip is ideal for use when clearing out a full house or during major renovation work.
Jobs Suitable for a Roll On Roll Off Skip
20- or 40-yard Roll On Roll Off (RORO) skips are the biggest skips in the UK and are often used on construction sites to get rid of large amounts of construction waste.
Council Permit for Hiring a Skip
A skip hire permit will only usually be needed if you have to place your skip on council-owned land or premises – such as by the roadside or on a grass verge outside your home. They will cost you between £15 and £60, depending on your council. If the skip is going on your own private land, then no permit will be required.
