7 Tips To Hiring A Skip

How to Efficiently Fill Your Skip

Are you currently hiring a skip or considering hiring a skip? Whether you are a homeowner or business owner, we have created 7 hints and tips to use when hiring a skip…

The Key To Hiring A Skip

1- Location, Location, Location!

Before your skip is delivered you will need to choose a suitable location that is flat and free from any obstructions.

2- Hazardous Waste

The simple rule is to leave it out. Usually, items such as oil, petrol, diesel, paint and batteries will not be accepted by your skip provider.

3- Responsible Loading

It is your responsibility to load your skip correctly and safely. Always place big items first and loose waste last when filling your skip evenly.

4- Different Skip Sizes

Make sure you first determine how much waste you have to avoid hiring a skip that is either too small or too large.

5- Council Support

Items such as fridges, freezers, batteries, paint, mattresses or carpet may be eligible to be removed by your local council.

6- Public / Private Land?

If your skip is being placed on public land, you will need to request a permit from your council before you do so. If you do happen to require a permit to place a skip on public land then our team at Martlands Waste Management can assist you with this, contact us for more information.

7- Skip Delivery

Give clear instructions to the waste management company driver where your skip is going to be placed and once delivered do not attempt to move it as they are heavy and may damage your property.
